Earth Defense Force X Previews
CVG posted this somewhat negative preview of the upcoming micro-budget game Earth Defense Force X:
"But it's Japanese!" we hear you cry, somehow. "Over there it's called Chikyuu Boueigun 3," you go on to explain, lurching dangerously closely to showing off. "But yes," we reply, "we told you that in issue 45, but the key detail is that it's now due in the US this spring, making it a near certainty to land here eventually.".

The other thing undoubtedly running through your minds is that it looks a lot like a low rent version of Capcom's Lost Planet, and once again you're right. For, while the graphics are urban and unpretentious, the design is defiantly and distinctly retrograde. And what about the gameplay? Well, giant ants squeeze out rocket launchers and armour upgrades when they die, so you work it out.
Come on, CVG -- not every 360 shooter has to be epic and grim. I think the game looks like a blast. Retro stylings? Yes! Giant bugs? Double yes! A price tag probably much lower than $60? Be still my beating heart!

For some gameplay footage and a more positive look at EDFX be sure to check out the Feb. 2nd edition of the 1UP show.
