The first two seasons of Family Guy will hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on Monday:
Xbox 360 owners will be able to purchase each of the episodes from the first two seasons as well as the straight-to-DVD film "family guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story" for 160 Microsoft points, or about $2, which is comparable with the pricing of TV episodes on iTunes and other VOD platforms. In addition to being its initial foray into Xbox, this also is first time the Seth MacFarlane-created series about the irreverent Griffin clan has been available for downloads on any platform, McCabe said.
Let's do a little math, shall we? There's 28 episodes in the first two seasons of Family Guy, so buying the whole set on the XBLM will run you about $56 US. That same set on DVD only costs $35 US new on Amazon. So while it may be convenient to download those episodes on your Xbox, you've got to ask yourself just how much that convenience is worth to you. I'll be sticking with the DVDs.
