For years, Pro Evolution Soccer was the best football game on the market. That was until Fifa 10 came along. With its realistic ball movement and immersive gameplay it far outshone its opponent, and graphically we had never seen as flawless a recreation of some of the world's favourite players and stadiums. However, if you thought that this was as real a take on the beautiful game as was possible, it seems you were wrong.

E3 2010 has revealed the first snapshots of Fifa 11, set for release in Autumn this year, and it looks as if it will take leaps and bounds from Pro to keep up. Much secret research in gaming communities online by EA Canada into the flaws in Fifa 10 has led to a new passing style. With practice and experience in the game you were able to easily pass the ball from one box to the other in five touches with well timed taps whether you were playing as Arsenal or Scunthorpe, but now much time has been taken concentrating on what makes each player unique. This leads to a more realistic game where players like Park-Ji Sung and Aaron Lennon aren't Xabi Alonso. You can't expect all on the pitch to have the vision and skill to pull off a sixty yard pass, and many will see passing back as their only option.
To achieve more unique attributes for the players in Fifa 11 EA Canada have come up with Personality +. This allows numerous attributes to be further broken down into traits, a unique balance of which creates authentic virtual versions of real players. Put this together with the 7 new body types created (in Fifa 10 there were 3, but they now encompass all between lean, small, big and stocky with a "special"category created for the likes of Peter Crouch) and you'll have the means to distinguish the players on and around the ball quickly, allowing immediate responses to match situations.
