I Hope You Like Waiting: Crackdown Demo Jamming Up Xbox Live
I guess everyone missed the memo that you have to buy a retail copy of Crackdown to get into that Halo 3 beta, not just download the demo. My Xbox has been downloading for the last hour and I'm only 33% done with the 1.24GB file. CVG reports:
Demo of Microsoft's super-powered crime-beater now clogging up Xbox Live...the demo lets you explore roughly half the district that belongs to the 'Los Muertos' gang, with access to both single and co-operative modes - so you needed fling cars alone. It should also be noted that levelling up in the demo has been made easier to accommodate the 30 minute time limit, and will take longer in the full game.
Since I can't post my impressions of the demo yet, here's what I think of the Xbox Live "Active Downloads" pane:
  • Clear font -- easy to read even on standard def TVs.

  • Control reference on the bottom is handy, helps you remember that "B" is for "Back."

  • Conveniently placed clock lets you know exactly how much time you could have been playing Crackdown if Microsoft hadn't blown your $50 Xbox Live tax on Cheetos instead of bandwidth.
