Microsoft hope to capitalize on shortage
With the majority of Americans lacking the PS3/Wii that they so desperately wanted, they've turned to Xbox 360 to give them that next generation feeling that they so desperately wanted.

Microsoft aims to have an install base of a lofty 10 million by the end of 2006. While concrete numbers are difficult to come by, most accounts put Microsoft a bit behind the pace required to hit their goal.

If you've watched television at all since Thanksgiving you have likely seen a couple different Xbox 360 ads. With the inevitable next gen console shortage in full effect right, Microsoft hopes to swoop in steal away a couple gamers away from Sony and Nintendo.

XboxSpace will provide more console sales information throughout the holiday season as it becomes available.
