MMO's On Consoles

Filed in archive Xbox 360 on February 4, 2006

Just recently I picked up World of Warcraft for my PC, and lately I've been spent a lot of time lost in Azeroth, but I'm not sure if I am going to continue to subscribe beyond the free month. The thing is, my PC isn't where I am most comfortable playing games; the place I'm most comfortable is in front of my TV. So I got to thinking, why is is that more MMO's don't come out on the console?

Well, I know Final Fantasy XI is already on the PS2 and is coming to the 360 shortly, but that's it. Why can't we get a game like World of Warcraft or City of Villains on the console? I started thinking philosophically about it, and this is what I've come up with. PC gamers on a whole are comfortable with spending more money, so they don't mind playing the monthly fees as much as a console gamer. Somebody who plays only console games just wants to pay their $300-400 for a new console, which is much less than a decent PC; they are not accustomed to paying monthly fees for gaming.

I'd really like to see some new MMO's on the console, but will I? Maybe. I'm not going to buy Final Fantasy XI though, I haven't heard good things about it, and its old, its been out forever; I want a premier MMO on the console. What do you think, as a console gamer (which I'm assuming you are, because you're on an Xbox site,) would you be willing to throw down $15 a month for a totally kick ass game? Let's hear it.
