Dispelling rumors that Microsoft may be planning a price cut for the Xbox 360 to counter the soon-to-be-released (in Europe) Playstation 3, Microsoft's Chris Lewis had this to say:
there are "no plans [for a price cut]," and that MS is offering "outstanding value and choice – especially when you compare us to our soon-to-be competitor."And that wasn't the end of his PS3-bashing either: "I've given up trying to keep up with what Sony is announcing or not announcing," he said. "Sony will launch and sell out their limited quantities. And consumers will try to figure out if the addition of unproven technology is worth the £200 premium over Xbox 360."
Sounds about right to me. I doubt that Sony will get anything more than the lukewarm reception they've had in the states until they get some compelling games out the door. I'd still like to see a price drop for the 360 — or at least a restructuring of the Core vs. Premium models. It's time to make that hard drive standard, guys.
