MTV Buys Guitar Hero for 175 Million

In a rather sad transaction, MTV has purchased Harmonix Music Systems for $175 million in cash.

You may remember Harmonix from such games as Amplitude, Frequency, and my personal favorite – Karaoke Revolution. Oh yeah…they also made a little game called Guitar Hero too.

Anyway, who knows what the real upshot of this all is.. Harmonix had just announced that Guitar Hero would be coming to all major platforms (360 included) in early 2007.

I'm pretty upset about the transaction, I really do hate MTV. The station is singlehandedly responsible for making every girl (and some guys) I know dress, act and speak like complete retards. Maybe I'm just bitter tonight.

In MTV's defense….I remember the show "undressed" from back in the day. That show was the shit!!

In any event, I'm upset Harmonix was bought and I think that MTV will ruin the Guitar Hero franchise, but I'm glad those guys at least made off with a couple briefcases full of bills.
