New PS3 Controller

If you remember back to E3 2005, you may remember Sony unveiling their first PS3 controller...aka the boomerang.

Well, it turns out that Sony listened to the overwhelmingly negative response to their Australian inspired controller and they decided to axe it.

Last night, at Sony's Pre-E3 press conference, Kutaragi-san displayed the new PlayStation3 Controller.....and it looks just like the PS2 controller.

Despite looks, it has some pretty interesting functionality....similar to the Wii's remote, the controller is motion sensitive. Which means it can sense which direction it is being moved in, for example if you tilt the controller to the right, the character on screen will also tilt to the right.

Last night at the press conference, Sony used a jet fighter game to demonstrate the the functionality - and I must say, it looks pretty cool.

I'm starting to feel a little bit dated here, with my non motion sensing 360 controller.
