Peter Moore pulls 180 on 360 Backwards Compatibility

Peter Moore stunned and horrified original Xbox fans everywhere on June 1st when he said:

"Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility. We under promised and over delivered on that. It's a very complicated thing... very complex work. I'm just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible. More are coming, but at some point, you just go, there's enough, let's move on, or people aren't as worried about a game being backwards compatible -- and I like to think we've upheld our end of the bargain in making at least two or maybe three hundred games backwards compatible."

Well, it turns out Peter Moore has changed his tone quite a bit, as he announced on Major Nelson's podcast yesterday that Microsoft would indeed continue working on ensuring (near) full backward compatibility for the original Xbox.

On Major Nelson's podcast, Moore said:

"Boy, do we care about backward compat[ibility]."..."We're going to get darn close to that stated goal of every title done."

Boy, and I glad to hear that, Peter.

Anyway, the next update should bring upwards of 20 new compatible Xbox titles including one of my favorite games, lego Star Wars.
