The Outfit is just one of those games that kind of comes out of nowhere, and doesn't seem to be going anywhere; but it's a lot of fun.
The demo just hit Xbox Live, so everybody should go out and check that out. You should know that it is indeed a multiplayer demo only, so if you've got any sort of social anxiety issues you might want to pass on this one.
Anyway, I just got done playing it pretty thoroughly..here's my official: The Outfit: Multiplayer Demo Quasi-Review. Very prestigious sounding title, don't you think? Anyway…
The game is similar to Battlefield 1942 in the sense that you need to go out and conquer landmarks. The longer you occupy a certain mark on the map, the more an opponents number (don't know the official term) goes down. You win by dropping the opponent down to 0.
In terms of gameplay, it's 3rd person shooter. Similar to Star Wars Battlefront. One cool feature is that you are able to buy weapons and vehicles on the fly. So let's say you're pinned down by a bunch of opposing forces, call in a tank, hop in and blow them all away. It's a great gameplay mechanic.
You always have a group of soldiers with you, and if they get killed you can just call in the reinforcements (literally.) This is cool because it makes a small game seem much, much bigger. For example a simple 2v2 game can have 20 guys running around on a pretty small map. It can get pretty crazy.
Graphically speaking, it looks good. As does any 360 game. It's not the best I've seen but it looks fine to me. No major complaints. I don't really believe in grading games too heavily based on appearance anyway. It's kinda shallow.
Overall it's fun. I mean, I don't think I will be buying it..but then again I hardly buy any games. I really recommend picking it up, your mileage may vary but hell, it's a free demo and you've got nothing to lose by trying it out.
