XBLA Wednesday: Mutant Storm Empire

Yet Another Twin-Stick Shooter or not you just might find yourself enjoying this week's Live Arcade release - Mutant Storm Empire. While it's easy enough to ignore the string of Geometry Wars inspired shooters that seem to be cluttering up release lists on a near-weekly basis, Mutant Storm Empire offers some variety - the levels are structured, instead of arena-based, and there is some great innovation with enemies and bosses. Heck, they've even eschewed the expected screen-clearing bomb and used a more powerful beam as a secondary Weapon. Little differences, sure, but they make great strides to separate this game from the other Geo Wars hangers-on.
